TRAINING PROGRAM
This advanced training course is dedicated to the management of patients supported with LVAD (HeartMate 3®).
Through a combination of high-fidelity simulation, hands-on workshops, and real clinical cases, participants will develop advanced skills in managing complex situations and complications.
👉 Designed for healthcare professionals already involved in LVAD care, this course focuses on clinical decision-making, complication management, and long-term patient follow-up.
Day 1
- Introduction & participant expectations
- LVAD physiology and device parameters
- Patient selection & peri-operative management
- Simulation: LVAD implantation (animal model)
Day 2
- ECMO to LVAD transition (hands-on)
- Management of complications
- Simulation: unstable LVAD patient
- Non-cardiac surgery & transplantation
- Long-term follow-up & patient education
- Final debrief & evaluation
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Manage complex and critical situations in LVAD patients (hemodynamic instability, thrombosis, infection)
- Optimize patient selection and peri-operative preparation
- Handle LVAD patients in specific contexts (non-cardiac surgery, transplantation)
- Improve long-term follow-up and patient educatio
- Analyze clinical situations through simulation and structured debriefing
